GENERAL INFORMATION
The Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus invites applications for a part-time sessional lecturer to teach MANU 378 201 Engineering Materials II, Winter term two (January 6- April 30, 2025). MANU 378 201 is a course offered within the Faculty of Applied Science by Manufacturing Engineering. It is subscribed by 3rd year Manufacturing Engineering students. This is a core course in the Manufacturing Engineering (MANU) Program that will focus on materials selection for different design criteria; importance of shape and processing variables; computer software in selection.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The position involves preparing and giving two one-hour lectures twice per week and a three-hour tutorial each week during the second term for one section. The course runs from January 6 to April 8, 2025. The instructor will prepare tutorials, assignments, mid-term exams, and final exam. It is the responsibility of the instructor to maintain an interactive learning environment in which all students are involved. This typically involves posing thought-provoking questions to students as well as answering questions posed by students. The instructor will need to be available to students outside of normal classroom hours to answer questions. The instructor is responsible to maintain records of grades and to submit final grades in a timely fashion to the Department office.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should have a degree in Engineering with experience in Materials Engineering and proven evidence of teaching effectiveness. Experience in teaching is an asset.
The salary range for this position is $9,000-$11,000 for the term depending on experience.
