Welcome Class of 2027!
On September 3, 2024, Imagine Day, the UBC Manufacturing Engineering program welcomed its newest cohort of undergraduate students. The annual Imagine Day traditions are designed to introduce incoming students to the vibrant campus life and foster connections with their future mentors, peers, and the broader UBC community.
For the incoming MANU students, the day kicked off with an engaging presentation that highlighted the vital role manufacturing engineering plays in shaping the world. Students were provided with a glimpse into the various aspects of the program, including the invaluable UBC Engineering Co-op, which offers hands-on industry experience alongside academic learning.
Student representatives of the Manufacturing Engineering Undergraduate Club were on hand to greet the newcomers, offering insights into student life within the MANU community. They emphasized the supportive and collaborative environment that defines the program and encouraged the students to take advantage of peer support networks.
In a highlight of the day, students had the opportunity to tour the Manufacturing Engineering Maker’s Space. Through a team-building activity, they collaborated with their new classmates, building camaraderie from the very start of their journey.
Later in the week, Dr. Ben Britton, Chair of the MANU Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee, led an EDI workshop that explored key principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. This important session underscored the program's commitment to fostering a respectful and supportive community for all students.
To the Class of 2027, we extend our warmest welcome. Your journey is just beginning, and we’re thrilled to see the incredible contributions you’ll make in the years ahead.
Let’s make things happen, together!
